Moovia Stockholm Recliners Anchor an 18-Seat Private Cinema in Saudi Arabia

In Khobar, Saudi Arabia, award-winning integration firm Labiib Solutions designed and delivered The Platinum Cinema Suite for a new-build home, and 18 Moovia Stockholm recliners are a large part of what made the geometry work. Most private cinemas are designed around six or eight seats. This one had to hold 18 people in real comfort, under a three-meter ceiling, with every one of those seats getting a clear view of the screen. The end result was named a finalist in the 2026 CEDIA Smart Home Awards EMEA.

A Chance Encounter on a Construction Site

A member of the Labiib Solutions team was driving past the property while it was still under construction and stopped to speak with the engineer on site. That conversation turned to how Labiib approaches private cinema design, and the company was later appointed to the project.

The brief was short. Eighteen seats, and it should feel luxurious. The client had no fixed idea of how the room should look or perform, so Labiib brought reference images and concepts back until the direction settled into a contemporary cinema with a dark palette, warm architectural lighting and lighter seating upholstery. As a turnkey project, the scope ran from interior and acoustic design through installation, calibration and final commissioning. Four months from start to finish.

How Do You Fit Three Rows of Private Cinema Seating Under a Three-Meter Ceiling?

At roughly 14 by 10 meters, floor space was never the problem. The ceiling was. Three rows of seating means tiering the floor, and every centimeter of platform height eats into overhead clearance.

“We needed to maintain clear sightlines for all 18 seats without creating excessively high seating platforms or compromising the viewing experience,” says Hassan Alajmi at Labiib Solutions.

So what do you do when you cannot go up? You go wide. Labiib designed the room around a 2.40:1 CinemaScope screen, which maximizes image width while keeping the screen height low.

“This gave us greater flexibility in positioning the screen and designing the tiered seating, allowing all three rows to enjoy comfortable and unobstructed viewing while maintaining the proportions and luxury feel of the room,” Alajmi says.

Where the Moovia Seating Did the Work

The rest of the solution sat in the seats themselves. Labiib specified 18 Moovia Stockholm recliners in premium leather and arranged them in pairs rather than in continuous rows.

“We did this deliberately, which gave us greater flexibility to fine-tune the position of each pair within the room,” Alajmi says.

The recliners then handled the last few centimeters of the problem.

“The reclining functionality of the Moovia seats helped by allowing each viewer to adjust their seating position for both comfort and viewing angle,” he says.

Each seat also has an integrated wireless charger, which keeps phones charged without cables crossing the room.

The System Behind the Private Cinema

Seating is only one part of the overall experience. A JVC NZ9 projector fills the 225-inch Screen Innovations screen, with a Lumagen unit processing the image. StormAudio processing and amplification drive the Artcoustic speaker system, and a Control4 system runs the room from a single remote.

But ask Alajmi what he is proudest of in the finished room, and it’s more about the design: “it’s the overall harmony of colors and how everything blended nicely at the end.”

Why Moovia

“We consider Moovia to be one of the leading cinema seating manufacturers, particularly when it comes to the combination of technical engineering, craftsmanship, comfort, and design,” Alajmi says. “For a project at this level, we wanted seating that could match the performance and quality of the rest of the cinema.”

He puts the reasoning plainly: “For us, the seating is not simply furniture added to a cinema at the end; it is an essential part of the overall experience.”

When needs came up mid-project, Alajmi says the Moovia team helped meet them right away.

After the Handover

The client told Labiib the cinema exceeded their expectations, and their reaction on seeing the finished room made that clear.

“Despite the level of technology behind it, the room is extremely simple and intuitive to operate,” he says. “For us, that is one of the best measures of a successful cinema: advanced technology in the background, with comfort and simplicity at the forefront.”

Eighteen people is a lot to keep comfortable for two hours, and a private cinema with this much engineering behind it comes down to how little of that engineering anyone has to think about once the lights go down.
